I’m Technologist at the National Institute of Optics (INO) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and I deal with the management of research projects in the biophotonics area.
I have a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and I gained ten years of experience (2003-2012) in national and international research projects and research contracts for companies (COMESA srl, ECM srl, OT-LAS, SELEX, Richard Ginori Museum). The research activities in which I was involved involved the development, validation and documentation of software in many areas: monitoring of environmental parameters with satellite remote sensing, development of railway signaling systems, digitization and classification of artistic works, optimization of the piloting of laser machines for fabric, monitoring systems for freight transport.
Subsequently (2013-2016) I was for three years Senior Project Manager in a private research foundation (ICON Foundation), where I coordinated two main projects of decision support systems, based on artificial intelligence: CytoCAD, on digitized cytological analysis and Simple Heart, on prediction and monitoring of chronic heart failure patients. I also coordinated the development of a Web Application (Team2Spin) for the management and monitoring of technology transfer processes at the University Incubator of Florence and the development of some use cases based on Big Data and Cognitive Computing tools in collaboration with IBM Italy.
Thanks to my scientific background and my management experience, since 2016 I have been working at LENS as Project Manager of research projects in the biophotonics area, directed by Prof. Pavone. I collaborate directly with the researchers of the group in various fields of scientific activity, supporting them in the drafting of project proposals, in the planning and monitoring of project budgets, in the procurement and recruitment procedures, in the interaction with the partners of the consortia and in the drafting scientific reports and maintenance of project platforms for the documentation and dissemination of results. I also collaborate with the administration of CNR-INO, LENS and the Department of Physics and Astronomy, for the financial reporting of projects, for the drafting of agreements with other research bodies and for the purchase and recruitment procedures. I also have a fair amount of experience in organizing scientific meetings and international conferences.
