Francesco Giardini obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science in 2015 and a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2018, both at the University of Florence. In his master thesis, supervised by Dr. Leonardo Sacconi and Dr. Leonardo Bocchi, he developed an innovative software tool able to reconstruct the 3D fibers architecture with cellular resolution in massive heart samples. In 2019 he started his current Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at the Cardiac Imaging Group at the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy (LENS) in Florence. Currently, he is combining advances in optical mapping, light-sheet microscopy, image analysis, and 3D computational modeling of the action potential propagation to investigate the role of the myocardium structural remodeling occurring in several cardiac pathologies.
